After working in corporate medicine for years, I saw how insurance companies profit from patients’ sick visits. At a typical doctor’s visit, one would wait for hours in a crowded waiting room. When they finally get to see the doctor, the doctor is usually busy coding and billing insurance and filling out various ‘quality’ metrics mandated by the insurance companies (which often have no basis in evidence-based medicine). The actual patient-doctor interaction may last only a few minutes, which is not adequate enough time to explain, educate, counsel, and treat patients. Insurance and administrators do not care about patient-physician relationships except when it comes to their monetary profits. 

I saw the need to change and shake things up!!
Your primary care physician, in theory, should be helping you understand your health problems, meet your goals, and improve your overall health status.  

I decided to pursue the Concierge Medicine model. Concierge Medicine breaks away from the interference of middlemen like insurance companies and corporate administrators and simplifies the doctor-patient relationship to what it should be — just between the doctor and the patient. 

Dr. AlShareef is Board certified by the American Board Of Internal Medicine. Dr. AlShareef is a member of the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association.
